ATEO-2A and ATEO-2B

Insight Observatory also proudly offers a 5" refractor deep-sky and a 6" classical Cassegrain reflector planetary imaging telescope that is mounted tandemly. These two telescopes are designated the Astronomical Telescopes for Educational Outreach (ATEO-2A and B). This imaging system is located at an elevation of 7,778 ft in the dark skies of New Mexico and went online in July 2018. The telescope is accessible remotely via the internet as a rental from classrooms for students, as well as the general public, to conduct astronomical research projects for science education or deep-sky imaging.

ATEO-2A: 5" f/5.8 refractor and ATEO-2B: 6" f/12 Classical Cassegrain reflector remote telescopes with an image of Messier 17, The Omega Nebula taken from ATEO-2A and the first image of Mars imaged on ATEO-2B. Image data acquired by John Evelan and processed by Utkarsh Mishra.
ATEO-2A: 5" f/5.8 APO refractor and ATEO-2B: 6" f/12 Classical Cassegrain reflector remote telescopes with an image of Messier 17, The Omega Nebula was taken from ATEO-2A and the first image of Mars imaged on ATEO-2B. Image data acquired by John Evelan and processed by Utkarsh Mishra. Image set for this deep-sky object is available in Insight Observatory's Starbase image set repository.

ATEO-2A and 2B are Insight Observatory's first affiliate imaging systems owned and provided by SkyPi Remote Observatory Managing Member, John Evelan. John agreed to partner up with Insight Observatory with the intention of providing a remote telescope that compliments remote telescopes ATEO-1 and ATEO-3. John shares the same outlook that Insight Observatory has regarding astronomy education outreach to educational institutions, the public, and amateur astronomers.

Although we are currently able to obtain amazing images of deep-sky objects with ATEO-2A and the planets with ATEO-2B, this high quality of imaging will also provide students with full capability of participating in research projects. These projects can be extragalactic supernova search, variable star measurement and basic concepts of astronomical imaging.
